2024 GMC Yukon Concept, Redesign, Release Date

2024 GMC Yukon Concept, Redesign, Release Date – There is a reason why customers gravitate toward the GMC Yukon rather than its corporate brethren, the Chevrolet Tahoe and Cadillac Escalade. The Yukon has long been General Motors’ ideal full-size SUV. The Tahoe may be too basic and vanilla for others, while the Escalade may have too much sparkle.

The 2024 GMC Yukon strikes the optimal balance of elegance and premium stature without being excessive. As with those two SUVs, the Yukon is offered in an extended-length variant dubbed the Yukon XL, effectively a more costly Chevy Suburban and a less expensive Escalade ESV. This large vehicle required some adjustment initially, but after only a few days, we grew to rely on it for one critical task: snowboarding.

Breckenridge, Colorado, roads were sloppy following the night before departure’s sub-zero temps. There was black ice everywhere. While driving a full-size, competent off-road SUV like this does not ensure nothing awful will happen, you are in a far better position to arrive safely than you are in many other automobiles. The 2022 Yukon is an excellent full-size SUV in every way, but the AT4 off-road option elevates it to new heights. Our week-long test vehicle was a fully loaded 2022 Yukon 4WD AT4 standard length with the optional 420-horsepower 6.2-liter EcoTec V8 engine.

For the 2022 model year, the GMC Yukon series will include a 12-inch digital instrument cluster. The interior technology has been improved as well, with a new Connected Infotainment System created in collaboration with Google, and the luxury Denali now comes standard with the formerly optional power-sliding center console. The only difference on the exterior is the addition of Redwood Metallic to the color pallet. This year, the AT4 model gains a larger 6.2-liter V8 engine as an option. The 2018 GMC Yukon is a significant advance over its predecessor in terms of aesthetics.

It now commands a more significant presence than ever before due to the more prominent grille and unique headlamps. All models’ headlights, fog lamps, daytime running lights, and taillamps are equipped with standard LED technology. The entry-level model comes standard with 18-inch alloy wheels, while the remainder of the series features bigger 20-inch wheels. Red recovery hooks and a performance front skid plate are standard on the tough AT4. The Denali comes standard with a panoramic power sunroof, which is also available on the majority of other trim levels, including our AT4 tester. Additionally, the Denali has satin chrome bodyside moldings and a distinctive grille.

Interior

2024 GMC Yukon has worked diligently to elevate the new Yukon above not just its predecessor, but also its competitors, as is evident upon climbing into the cabin. It’s really large, and even grownups in the third row will feel at ease. While the materials are mainly satisfactory, it’s worth noting that the expensive Denali has been further distinguished from the rest of the lineup by a distinctive cabin design and an emphasis on premium materials. All 2022 versions now include a digital gauge cluster, which is rather impressive.

Even the base Yukon includes power-adjustable front seats and tri-zone automatic temperature control, while the fully equipped Denali includes a power-adjustable steering column, a 15-inch color head-up display, and a 14-speaker Bose sound system. The Jet Black leather seats contrast nicely with the Satin Steel exterior. Rear-seat passengers benefited from a media system comprised of two rear-mounted 12.6-inch color LCD touchscreens fastened to the driver and front passenger seats as part of our AT4’s costly Premium Plus Package. This is something that will come in handy on road trips, amusing both children and adults.

Engine

Rather than reducing and forcing induction, GMC chose natural aspiration and pure displacement for the pair of V8 engines. These engine are well-known as they are also used in the Chevrolet Tahoe. The smaller 5.3-liter V8 generates 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, but only at 4,100 rpm. The 6.2-liter V8 produces 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, giving it a distinct advantage off the line and while overtaking at higher speeds. The 3.0-liter turbocharged Duramax inline-six engine produces just 277 horsepower, but it is all about the 460 lb-ft of torque produced at just 1,500 rpm.

Regardless of engine selection, every Yukon comes standard with a ten-speed automatic gearbox that is both smooth and decisive. In comparison to the six-speeder utilized in the previous generation Yukon, this gearbox makes far better use of the smaller V8’s lower outputs. Unfortunately, the AT4 cannot be fitted with the oil burner, which is arguably the best engine for this trim due to the torque being available early in the rpm range.
